The Green Room Hotel's Guide to Spring in Carlsbad

It's officially spring in Southern California. While we don't see the seasonal changes that much of the country experiences, this year's winter has had its share of unusual clouds and rain, and we're hoping spring brings back our usual California sunshine-filled days. While spring breakers and other travelers may flock to the beaches, and rightfully so, they're beautiful, there are plenty of different ways to enjoy spring in Carlsbad, Oceanside, and beyond. If you're planning a trip to our Carlsbad hotel this spring, continue reading below for The Green Room Hotel's Guide to Spring in Carlsbad.

Visit the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch

Locals and visitors alike look forward to visiting the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch each year. Carlsbad Ranch boasts over 50 sweeping acres of coastal farmland and has hosted guests for the last 26 years. The opening of the Carlsbad Ranch Flower Fields signifies the arrival of spring and attracts visitors from all over. Guests can take tractor rides and stroll through the fields of multi-colored flowers, including Giant Tecolote Ranunculus, roses, orchids, sweet peak blossoms, petunias, and many more. The ranch hosts guests for six to eight weeks each spring. Stop by for a sunset tour for a surreal evening. If you're around for Spring in Carlsbad, visiting the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch is a must.

Hit the Beach

The beach is always a good idea when you're visiting Carlsbad. The Green Room Hotel is just a short walk or bike ride from Carlsbad State Beach. Take a complimentary beach cruiser and enjoy the sun along the sea wall. Spend a day enjoying the sun and sand in one of Southern California's most beloved coastal communities.

Paddle Out for a Surf

The Green Room Hotel is perfectly positioned to give surfers of all levels access to the best waves in San Diego County. Located at the junction of South Oceanside and Northern Carlsbad, our Carlsbad hotel is just a stone's throw away from half a dozen of Southern California's most consistent surf breaks. Whether you're an avid surfer or a complete beginner, there's a wave nearby for you. Our favorite waves in Carlsbad include Tamarack Beach, the Ponto Jetties, and Carlsbad State Beach. Spring in Carlsbad typically signifies the transition from larger winter swells to smaller summer surf. With the occasional late-season north swell and the beginning of south swell season, spring is a great time to be a surfer in Carlsbad. Go Wine Tasting in Temecula

Temecula is a popular wine county approximately 30 miles inland from Carlsbad. The area is known for its rolling hills and red blends. While it's no Napa, Temecula is home to over 40 wineries. Start your day with brunch at Ponte Winery, followed by a wine tasting. Other great local wineries include Lorimar Winery, Doffo Winery, Briar Rose Winery, and Chapin Family Vineyards.

Hit the State Street Farmers Market

If you can't make it to the flower fields, the State Street Farmers Market offers an excellent selection of freshly picked flowers, produce from nearby farms, and tasty treats from local food vendors. The State Street Farmers Market begins each year in March and lasts through October. The Famers Market is held each Wednesday from 2:30 to 7 PM. Traffic on State Street is blocked off during the market, and Shoppers walk the street freely. The selection of fresh flowers is awe-inspiring. State Street Famers Market selects vendors who are certified growers and limits packaged foods to prioritize freshness, quality, and sustainability. If you're visiting Carlsbad for spring, hit the State Street Farmers Market.
