The Green Room Hotel's Guide to Spring in Oceanside

Spring has officially sprung in Southern California, and while Oceanside may not boast the dramatic seasonal shifts seen in other parts of the country, there's still reason to celebrate. As we eagerly anticipate the return of our quintessential California summer sunshine, locals and visitors alike are gearing up for a season of outdoor adventures and coastal exploration. Spring in Oceanside has something for everyone, from fun spring waves to exciting events around town. If you're planning a spring getaway to our delightful corner of the coast, continue reading below for The Green Room Hotel's Guide to Spring in Oceanside.

Indulge in the Tastes of Spring in Oceanside

Savor the flavors of spring at Taste of Spring, a revamped version of the beloved Taste of Oceanside event. Formerly known as "Mother's Day Is Sweet," Taste of Spring is all about supporting local businesses—restaurants, shops, breweries, and wineries—while giving residents and visitors a chance to enjoy some great food and drinks. Tastes of Spring will occur on Saturday, April 20, from 2 to 5 p.m. It's a family-friendly affair with something for everyone.

Hit the Beach

What's the use of having all these sunny days if you're not spending them at the beach. Oceanside has four miles of pristine beaches for you to enjoy during your stay at the Greenroom Hotel. Whether you're a surfer or just looking to layout, we can help you find the perfect spot. From the Green Room Hotel, you're just a short walk to South Oceanside Beach. If you feel like exploring more of the coast, grab a complimentary beach cruiser and peddle your way up and down the beach.

Visit the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch

While the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch aren't technically in Oceanside, it's worth driving to see springtime bloom. Located just over five miles south of our Oceanside Hotel, the Carlsbad Ranch boasts 50 expansive acres of picturesque coastal farmland. Carlsbad Ranch has been welcoming visitors for the past 26 years. The annual opening of the Carlsbad Ranch Flower Fields is one of our community's most beloved spring events. Take a tractor ride or leisurely strolls through the vibrant fields of multi-colored blossoms. Visitors will see a variety of flowers, including Giant Tecolote Ranunculus, alongside roses, orchids, sweet pea blossoms, petunias, and more. The fields are open to guests for six to eight weeks each spring. Stop by the ranch for a sunset tour if you're visiting Oceanside in spring.

Take on the Oceanside Surf

Spring is an excellent time of year for surfers in Oceanside. While spring marks the end of powerful winter north swells, there are still a few fun late-season swells and the occasional early south swell. If you're a new surfer, book a lesson at one of our many Oceanside surf schools and paddle out with a local pro. If you're an experienced surfer, check out our Oceanside Surf Guide to learn about some of our favorite local waves.

Paddle Oceanside Harbor

Experience the Oceanside Harbor from the water on a stand-up paddleboard. The harbor is protected from incoming swell, so it's easy to paddle. You'll be surrounded by beautiful sailboats and the resident seals and seagulls that call the harbor home. Head to Oceanside Boat Rentals to find stand-up paddleboard rentals near the harbor. If stand-up paddle boarding isn't your thing, rent a kayak instead.
